Tip's for Today

     Creating a Beautiful Smile

A smile is one of the most important things that makes you look your best.  It shows confidence and makes people want to be around you.  Here are a few tips to make your smile look its best.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is all the craze right now.  There are so many products to choose from, but which ones really work.  Most people suffer from yellowish surface stains.  Home whiteners do work well on these types of stains.  You can choose from strips, trays, pastes, and gels.  The higher concentration of peroxide or bleach and the longer they stay on the teeth the better the product will work.  They do not harm teeth, but may cause sensitivity.  If you have overly sensitive teeth see you should consult a professional.   Trays and strips usually work best because the product stays on the teeth longer.  Mouth washes and toothpaste that claim to whiten teeth will only help with very superficial stains because they are not on the tooth long enough.  But they do help in maintaining whiter teeth after performing another whitening treatment.

If you want your teeth whiter now or have more severe staining you may opt for an in office treatment.  This can be performed by a dentist or other professional.  Some companies even offer one hour treatments through home parties and mall kiosks.  These are strong treatments that utilize light to make them work quickly.  You will have to be careful what you eat and drink for 48 hours after the treatment and may want to also use an at home treatment like strips to maintain your newly whitened teeth for the longterm.

Lip Care

Lips tend to get dry and flaky and sometimes even crack in the winter time.  Exfoliate your lips by using a damp cloth or toothbrush, or use a product designed to exfoliate the lips.  Keep your moisturized with lip balms will also help.  Also, look for a lip stick with moisturizer built in.
